Abstract / Content summary
Sustained commitment by Government is needed to develop and nurture Livestock Agriculture in Papua New Guinea by providing the necessary political and financial support whenever the situation demands. It is recommended that the following companies be established for a rapid development of Livestock industry in the country: (a) Beef Self-Sufficiency Company Pty Ltd at Lae; (b) Mutton Self-Sufficient Company Pty Ltd at Madang; (c) Dairy Development Company Pty Ltd at Mt. Hagen; (d) A feed Grain Development Company Pty Ltd at Lae. It is suggested that a 10% levy be imposed on all imports of livestock and their production to recover a part of the funding provided to the above companies. [Original Abstract]
